How long did the novel take to write?

Traitor's Blood is actually the culmination of about 10 years' work (I visited Edgehill way back in 2001) though the majority of that time was spent simply thinking about what sort of book I'd like to write, and forming the characters in my mind. Once I eventually got around to telling the story, it probably took the best part of a year, mostly written during the evenings after work.

The subsequent books in the Civil War Chronicles took approximately seven months (full time) to write, with perhaps another couple of months editing.
